L a u r a A n d e l O r c h e s t r a9 musicians + conductor D o b l e M a n o Doble Mano a two-way street, or anything with opposite directions within one road. About Doble Mano One-way and two-way roads, imperceptibly moving in one and opposite directions. Similar instruments but from different geographies mirror each other, evoking ambiguity and unlike realities. Likewise, composer, conductor and performers all mirror each other, reflecting the shifting sounds. About Laura Andel One of the focal points in my search as a composer is the concept of identity linked to the search of ambiguity. I feel very strong the question of my own identity, perhaps in part because I am an immigrant myself. Born in Buenos Aires, I lived there for many years. After several travels, I now live in New York. Part wanderer, I may still be under the illusion of being in search of my next den. Special thanks to The Kitchen, The Rockefeller Foundation / Bellagio Study Center, Blue Mountain Center, the American Music Center. Deep thanks to all the musicians of the Laura Andel Orchestra, John Gurrin, Kevin James, and Elliott Sharp. Thank you to Carlos Liachovitzky, my mother, and my father. Doble Mano was funded in part by the Composer Assistance Program of the American Music Center, and was partially developed during a residency at The Rockefeller Foundation / Bellagio Study Center in Italy (2007), and at Blue Mountain Center in New York (2006).
